We Are Creatures teaches art &

self confidence through puppetry.

Each show features a short lesson taught by creative art educators of the Richmond, VA community. The lessons investigate topical themes within place-based education.

The Creature Crew may be booked for private events and set up in public locations of Richmond, VA such as farmers markets, First Fridays, and local parks. 

Other non-puppetry art lessons for both children and adults are taught out of Emily's home or on requested location.

Specific Objectives

  • Encourage observation and focus through facilitated character narrative 

  • Associate expression with change in movement, rhythm, and emotion. This builds great confidence!

  • Introduce both traditional and contemporary artists and art making techniques

  • Formulate a sense of place within local environments

  • Investigate 'trash' and neglected objects with environmental stewardship
